Refirme: Non-invasive skin tightening

It's Facial Care Center's (FCC) 27th anniversary this month and they offering 50 percent off on all treatments so this is the best time to get that Refirme package as they seldom offer this at discounted price. Refirme was introduced by FCC in 2007 and up to now, it has received good reviews. Renew, on the other hand, is FCC's newest treatment for scar removal, pronounced lines and enlarged pores. Unlike its predecessor, Fraxel, which clients say are painful, Renew is as painless as Refirme.

Refirme Skin Tightening

I got my Refirme 4+1 package thru Anne Abrio last July and since then I've undergone two treatments spaced a month apart. Results are noticeable even on the first appointment. I know this to be true since right after my first treatment, my friends kept telling me that same night that my skin is glowing and my pores seem to have disappeared. I have the beginnings of fine lines under the eyes and laughlines so to see these miraculously disappear made me anticipate my next treatment until the last, when I could finally see the results.

Refirme is an FDA approved, first-of-its-kind technology that uses radio frequencies combined with infrared light to tighten, lift and firm the skin. Since it is a non-invasive skin tightening procedure, there is no downtime, no pain, injections, swelling or peeling. It takes only 30 minutes or so.

First, they put a cold gel on the face and they make multiple passes of the machine on areas that are prone to wrinkles like around the eyes for crow's feet, around the mouth for laugh lines and under the jaw to counter the sagging. You feel a little heat on parts of the face where the skin is thinner such as the bony areas along the cheekbones and jaw. You are made to wear dark goggles when they work around the eyes or you keep your eyes closed. I could feel the pulses of light from behind my closed lids when they did this. Some clients have it done in the neck area as well.

If you ask people at FCC, they will say that Refirme is expensive, yes, because it is Thermafirme and IPL combined. You may get a package that has multiple treatments if you opt for the latter, but with Refirme, it is one go and then you come back a month later. If you do the Fefirme in your 30's, you won't need to get painful botox injections when you reach your 40's.

Refirme is not laser, just radio frequency that stimulates the skin to produce collagen, which continues to rebuild even after six months. Collagen is a natural protein that provides our skin with structural support. By replenishing the collagen levels in our skin, the aging process is drastically slowed down and existing wrinkles are quickly reversed or repaired. It can be injected to help fill wrinkles but it is more effective to stimulate the body's natural production of collagen rather than inject it.
They say four to six treatments are enough and then there's maintenance, if you so choose to get it. They highly recommend this.

My second treatment last August, I had them apply a Vitamin Facial Mask (this costs Php 3,000 but I had to try this at least once) which really made my skin glow even better. If you get this after each Refirme treatment, the better. It's okay if you don't.
