In the Philippines, the shift towards organic products is catching on. There are major setbacks, however, as organic farming is not cost effective. For one, producers need access to funds to develop more organic farming communities and farm-to-market roads to facilitate trade.  As a consequence produce cost more than commercially available non-organic products.  For health conscious people and those who advocate organic farming as it is earth-friendly, this is too little a price to pay for saving one’s health and the environment.

One such store that carries organic products is the Echostore in Serendra, the metro’s haven for organic product lovers that offers offers organic product for health and beauty, as well for wellness, accessories and other indigenious products made in the Philippines. The brainchild of three ingenious women: Reena Francisco of the Figaro Foundation, Jeannie Javelosa, writer-artist and Board of Trustee Member of the Yuchengco Museum and Chit Juan, co-chair of the Philippine Coffee Board, Echostore is all about living a sustainable lifestyle, supporting fair trade and helping other people live. All the products at Echostore are made by marginalized communities, creative and regional groups. Ilog Maria, beauty and health items made from a honeybee farm in Cavite; earth friendly cleaning products from Messy Bessy and accessories made by the Correctional Institute for Women are some of the products the Echostore carries.  Locatedt at the Ground Level Serendra Piazza, the store opens at 12 nn to 10 pm.
